Hey everyone,

We are putting out this announcement to clear the air, address recent events, and announce a permanent shift in how we handle moderation and community safety here on DJB.

I always like to keep it completely real with our users and supporters, because there is always a lot more nuance to how things work behind the scenes than what people see on the surface. As a staff team, we constantly discuss moderation ideas, suggestions, and site implementation together. Before now, our team-wide consensus was to lean toward patience, give people the benefit of the doubt, and focus on ignoring outside drama.

My original personal mentality from day one was actually much stricter: to proactively ban anyone with a severely problematic reputation or history who could potentially bring toxicity into our space. But I trusted the team process, listened to our collaborative approach, and we went with that path instead.

However, recent events proved that approach completely wrong. We tried to handle things with grace, only for it to blow up, invite endless friction, and drag our platform through the mud. Letting bad behavior slide or hoping outside drama will just "ignore itself" is what got us into this mess, and because of that I was as a co-owner, officially at my limit.

Because of this, effective immediately, we are changing how we run things. Our official community rules have now been updated to reflect this shift. From here on out, we are strictly enforcing preventative bans. If someone has a history of severe toxicity, manufactured drama, or an abhorrent reputation that threatens the peace and safety of this community, they will not be given a platform here. Period.

Not only that but,
Protecting our space isn't just up to the staff we are making preventative bans a community effort. If you know of someone with a track record of severe toxicity, targeted harassment, or bad-faith behavior who is trying to slip into our spaces, we need you to report them to us directly on the forum or Discord.

When submitting a report, please make sure to provide concrete details so we can act swiftly such as their specific email, social media/YouTube channels, or letting us know if they have already registered an account within the website.

We are a small, tight-knit forum and community centered around our projects, MUGEN, IKEMEN, and creative freedom not high school drama. Thank you to the members and staff who have kept a level head and supported us through this hard reset. moving forward, our standards are locked in, our boundaries are absolute, and our rules have been adjusted to keep it that way.
