Hiii,
So I decided, to bring up a topic that seems to be in constant debate in not only this year alone but a long time. and, I want to bring in my thoughts and of course you guys can leave your own but remember this is sorta a debate. That being said, I want to be completely clear and start first and admit that for the first time I can actively say with confidence and with a fact that kpop stans are the MOST toxic fandom of all time. period. not anime, gaming, etc.. I am confident that in this debate no one can top kpop stans in terms of being demonic, vile and toxic.
Disclaimer: this will contain the mention of disturbing contains. you've been warned.
You're probably wondering. how? well, as someone who's been an ARMY since 2016 I've seen fucking everything lmao and trust and believe they are demons. as soon as I THINK one fandom that isn't kpop related is toxic, kpop stans will literally step up to the plate and prove me wrong. I am going to explain and remember if you DOUBT it, GOOGLE is there lmao and us ARMYs NEVER forget. let's start:
1. The #btsdisband Situation
Let's start with the most recent vile hate train, that K-pop stans have been doing recently because of a certain incident that happened.
And that is start a vile trend called: #btsdisband. this trend is so demonic because the people who started it were either aespa fans or stray kids fans (both kpop anyways) that went around spreading misinformation about bts, sent death threats to armys where one of them almost attempted (luckily, they lived and are recovering the hospital), and the most fucked up one in which kpop stans were in group chats or online spaces pushing the #btsdisband trend to involve minors to sign/promote a petition to get BTS to disband and the way they did this was fucked up because they basically pressured them into doing it. there was even cases of CSAM material being used as bait to get signatures from predators as well.
2. The Break Wings Project.
This shit alone brings me trauma lol this was honestly, another hate train (yes not the first bts hate train to happen for no reason) in fact this was the very first one that not only bts went thru but the fans... despite BTS doing absolutely nothing to people and were rookies at the time. if you don't know what project break wings is, another pure organized hate train where rival fandoms (mostly Big 3 adjacent) coordinated mass hate comments, plagiarism/sajaegi accusations, black oceans at awards, and trying to tank the Wings comeback (yknow during the bts wings album promotions) and this was STILL when bighit was a small company.
The shit was so bad that it left real scars on BTS and ARMY at the time, (yes it fucked me up too) it was even so bad to the point that when BTS made a book on their journey they literally bought this up. it is literally documented in the Beyond the Story and the Monuments series for a reason. crazy part is this is when I thought the emo bands fandom was toxic, oh boy I was humbled and proven wrong during that time.
3. The Enhypen Mina Situation.
So aside from, kpop stans clearly having a hate boner for BTS because how dare they not be perfect 1230912903 of the time and be humans being that have no ill will to no one and is actually normal people that just wanna live their lives. when kpop stans aren't being vile towards BTS and their fans they start and love being vile to each other for example, this situation. this situation is about how a girl named Mina chan who died by suicide in early August during a TikTok livestream after days of intense online pile-on. all because, she asked Sunoo to pass flowers to Ni-ki. tame right? and well it was but yknow this is kpop stans we're talking about so ofc to them this isn't seen as normal since, some fans framed it as overstepping/attention-seeking, clipped it, and ran with it.
And then, it got even WORSE when Ni-ki himself later made general comments in a livestream about people at shows who seem more focused on getting personal notice than the actual performance he didn’t name anyone btw, but a chunk of the fandom connected the dots and the harassment escalated omg. she did post a long apology, btw said she was closing her fan account, and still the hate kept coming because after all kpop stans are demons why should they stop acting demonic when love doing that either way especially when people do take accountability for their actions. they don't care about apologies they just want everyone fuckin dead. because of that she is no longer here and no one has learned from that situation because kpop stans now during the #btsdisband situation wanted some armys to pull what she did all because they liked BTS.
Now, you probably thinking that has to be it right? NOPE.
Kpop fans, especially to this day continue a long cycle of hatred, to the point where it no longer feels like it's worth recommending kpop to anyone. everyone is always fighting and dragging each other. some literally push fandoms to do drastic things too, like as we speak because the #btsdisband trend was getting nightmare-ish even the most chillest of armys are at a breaking point and even, some armys known for d*xxing antis had to come out of retirement because these bitches truly lost it. it is ridiculous, bro. and then when you call them out on ANY of this or dish out the same energy they been doing, they PLAY VICTIM. they try to gaslight and emotionally manipulate people into think ARMYs are the villians when there's years and years of proof and receipts on the internet that kpop fans been sending hate and being dipshits to BTS and ARMYs since fucking debut. even much older fandoms who never participated in any of these acknowledge that ARMYs are the real victims!
Thats why I just will never believe people when they say this anime or abc has the worse fanbase because, remember there was a time that as soon as for example, I thought this year I was convinced that the mugen community was the worse fanbase, UNTIL I WOKE TF UP and realize WOAH nah kpop stans are LITERAL demons compared to mugen users bro. mugen users just consistent of adult babies and brainrotted kids. kpop stans are just filled with demons and clout chasers lmaoooo
So yeah, let's start the debate. do you think whatever fandom you know is worse than this? let me know and who knows I might agree but with the hate train STILL going on and ARMYs having to make a whole project to fight back, focus on streaming goals and stop the spread of misinformation, I doubt anything can top this. also I would like to add this.
NOT ALL KPOP FANS ARE LIKE THIS. I want to mention this because I didn't forget how this community acts too, y'all love to generalize, yes what these kpop stans have done are horrible but I will admit there was genuinely a good chunk that was against all of this and did not participate in it at all. I would also like to mention not all ARMYs are saints either since unfortunately, we have do have akgaes, toxic shippers and even other bad people in our spaces but they do not represent all of us and we usually try our best to get rid of them. either way, still because of this situation I would be lying if I say that ARMYs definitely will become more overprotective of BTS and I can't blame them since tbh I am a ARMY too and I honestly, been feeling like praying for BTS more often because I cannot IMAGINE as a human being going through this bull shit. they even make songs about BS situations like this, and yet they still go thru it because people don't care to listen and only ARMYs seem to understand. ughh I can keep going but, I think I said enough.
I am curious what are you thoughts on this and do you think a fandom you know has done worse? and what do you think should be the solution here for stuff like this? usually, I would hope that bighit / hybe would crack down on these people like they have done in the past but nothing has been done it's crazy. but yeah waht do you think on your end?
