One of the few pioneers of M.U.G.E.N characters with the sole intention of being cheap, Apelao used to live up to its name back in the early 2000's as the "strongest character on M.U.G.E.N", as Apelao didn't use an overdetailed tactic, flashy effects or a fancy moveset, since Apelao could simply raise his arm to annihilate almost every opponent that dared to face it. This coupled with the immunity to the F1 key and being unable to be put in custom states easily, Apelao was considered the toughest; however, many other characters would also emerge in the very future, with one being stronger than the last, and as such Apelao isn't as strong as it used to be nowadays.
One useless fact, is that Apelao is also known by a story made by gemaplys (a Brazilian YouTuber), where, when he was a kid, he downloaded this character for his M.U.G.E.N roster only for Apelao's OHKO attack to take the lights of gema's room down. Coincidence? maybe...
