This is actually one of the first releases of Rare Akuma from 2007. If you look at his original release thread, you can see in the earliest replies that he really was originally released as "Demon Akuma" (which just means Demon Demon). Differences from the latest version include being generally weaker (still cheap by normal means), firing a giant skull instead of a vacuum ray, having less attacks (e.g. the Katamari Ball wasn't added yet), and only one outcome to the Disco Trip Satsu (growing large and stomping the enemy).
