This post is just a post about my random thoughts about what things I am irriated/annoyed about as someone who is a co-owner of a forum.
My inspo for this post, is seeing a post on tumblr about on someone talking about their thoughts/griveance of being an admin of a website and I thought to write my own because I find it such an interesting concept, because people can get an idea of how it feels to be an admin or owner or really staff member in general of specific websites or forums. at the end of the day they had nothing against the website, they loved it they just simply wanted to voice their grievances about it and I was like wait that's valid. so wanted to join in too c: because I love this site and I do love working for this forum but no way will I deny tha I don't have grievances myself.
So, yeah going to do it here. other staff is also free to join in. so, to start, let's start with:
Irritation / Annoyance #1 -
⟢ People are more active on the Discord than the website. NOW, I know that doesn't seem like a valid complaint, but in my eyes it is. Because I technically worked hard to make sure the forum was very fun to be on, meaning I recommended a chat for the site (that's why we have it in the first place), added a category filled with games and a saltybet stream and tons of informative guides and tools and much more.
⟢ YET, people choose the Discord every time. and it's ironic because the BS drama we went through started off on discord lmao never on the site. so when I had a discussion with staff to remove it completely, to where if people wanna join the discord that bad rather than chatting through the widget, they can just join in the link or another type of widget just like how it is with other mugen forums. BUT, they did NAWT listen to me lmao they just moved it to where the chat is. making it to where people HAVE TO choose whether to join the discord or chat in the forum. which we know every time niggas will choose the discord and leave the chat on the forum for dead, I remember in the EARLY stages of this site everyone and they momma used the chat now people barely talk in it and they just say hi and then dead chat like 99% of the time.
⟢ NOW, I will admit I did recommend the discord widget but if I had known people would prioritize the discord instead of being active on the forum, engaging in discussion, etc.. I would've never recommended it.
Irritation / Annoyance #2 -
⟢ Seeing people who claim to love or will dedicate to uploading to this site, STILL uploading to andersonkenya1. this bothers me A LOT, because I am pretty sure most people know that andersonkenyak1 is a horribly moderated site but still choose to upload there instead of helping a site that works hard to make sure it's a peaceful place for everyone.
⟢ We actively listen to critique and the voices in general that our community has. yet the best files like characters, stages, etc.. are still being uploaded there. now I KNOW someone will say, well why not make it easier for these people to migrate here or, convince people to come here. well I HAVE, I made a video promoting DJB months ago, making a whole forum dedicated to if people who needed HELP migrating here and oldgamer himself promoted the forum. And over time DJB, started even going on the front page of mugen sites to go on. people still seem to choose ak1 despite the controversy.
⟢ Which is odd because, if the mentality that the mugen community has is that IDC if someone or something is outright controversial, I will still take the time to give them traffic and attention then in that case we should be having the same people uploading to ak1 should be uploading here because we went through our first controversy by banning a teenager who's a groomer and addicted to porn who then decided to take the punishment to their 4k subscriber YouTube channel, complaining that they faced consequences for their actions. I know we are small but I am just saying that we should be growing wayyy faster if this is how people are gonna think tbf
⟢ I think I'll just end it from there. because I know there will be people saying well ak1 is actually popular because they made it acceptable to allow 18+ characters to be on there and I just do not want to dive into that because even so, it doesn't take away from how it was and how it is currently being ran. it's no worries though hope something happens to our competition that's all. c: AEW and WWE beef everytime, ig it's no different here with us and them lmao. overall, it's just annoying that toxic legacy forums like them often stay relevant purely out of habit, search engine inertia, and old bookmarks, even when the community atmosphere and administrative practices have gone completely sour.
And, I think that is all.
If I somehow get another grievance, I will probably make a new post under this one. that is all thank you all for coming to my TED Talk; probably no one will respond to because idk anymore.
