Tools Movelist Creator (Python) 2026-09-03

"
Hello team,
I made a small Ikemen / MUGEN movelist creator. It reads each character’s .cmd / .mfg, writes a movelist.dat (Ikemen command list) and can add that file to the character’s .def.
It works well on a lot of Marvel vs Capcom, Street Fighter, DC and Cross Impact: Ultimate Showdown chars (the 37-char pack and Reaper Kicker edits). Example:

It is not perfect on every author. Classic [Command] chars (QCF + punch in the .cmd) come out best. Hyper Dragon Ball Z / Team Z2 have a dedicated mode, but those lists still need a manual pass. Some creators only put dummy names (SPECIAL 1) or read inputs with explods, so the auto list will look wrong or incomplete.

How it works?
You needs:
-Python 3
-openpyxl (pip install openpyxl), just write on the python terminal one time:
cd C:\PythonProjects\ikemen_movelist
pip install openpyxl
-The project folder with generar_movelist.py
A spreadsheet or a text list with one character folder per row, column A (LibreOffice .ods or Excel .xlsx)
1-First of all it uses Python and one file that should be LibreOffice or Microsoft Excel:
LlibreOffice or Microsoft Excel: it should be a file with all routes whose files you wants to add movelists in the column A.
Example of routes:
C:\Games\IKEMEN2\chars\0D_Sieger
C:\Games\Cross Impact\The Game\chars\Superman
Only real character folders. Do not list stages, maps, palettes, shared files, etc.

2- Then you open in the terminal of python (i use visual code studio) the project "generar_movelist.py" and writes the following:
cd "The route of your Python Terminal" C:\PythonProjects\ikemen_movelist
python generar_movelist.py --excel " route of your LibreOffice or Excel routes file"

Example on my computer (does not overwrite a movelist.dat that already exists):
cd C:\PythonProjects\CMD_Parser\ikemen_movelist
python generar_movelist.py --excel "C:\Juegos\rutasIkemen.ods"
It creates all the moveslist.dat and add each moveslist.dat to each character.def file.Goal Achieved, movelists already created and in .def files.

*If you adds "--force", the program will overwrite in each movelist.dat:
python generar_movelist.py --excel "C:\Games\rutasIkemen.ods" --force
*If you writes "--solo-def", the program will add to the .def file moveslists.dat that already exists:
python generar_movelist.py --excel "C:\Games\rutasIkemen.ods" --solo-def

3-A reporte.xlsx appears in the folder where you ran the command
StatusMeaningOKList created (and .def updated if possible)OMITIDOThat folder already had movelist.dat (use --force only if you want to replace it)ERRORNo .cmd/.mfg, or the path is not a characterVACIOFile found, but no usable moves after filtering
Open a few chars in Ikemen and check the command list. MUGEN 1.1 does not show movelist.dat in-game the same way; the file is for Ikemen (you can still keep it in the folder).
Limits (please read)

Best on chars that define real motions in [Command].
HDBZ / Team Z2: extra module exists; lists are a draft (often a “Dudosos” section with normals).
Author packs like some CobraG6 chars use names such as SPECIAL 1 — the tool cannot invent the real move name.
Very large lists (80–100 lines) usually include dashes/jumps you may want to delete by hand.

That is it: point it at your chars folders and in a few minutes most of the roster can have a usable Ikemen movelist. Feedback and better sample .cmd files are welcome.

I will be improving little by little this program to make it works better.
