Michael Wayne Rosen is an English poet, writer, performer and broadcaster. An accomplished writer of children's literature, he was the UK Children's Laureate from 2007-09. He has also written a number of books for adults, ranging from poetry collections to memoirs and historical non-fiction. As a broadcaster, he has presented numerous television programmes and hosted a radio programme on BBC Radio 4 since 1998.

In 2009, Michael's poetry performance videos were discovered by a certain subset of YouTube users who enjoyed using existing videos to create comedic mash-ups: YouTube Poops. Over the years, the YTPers made hundreds of videos remixing Michael's performances and formed a community around their craft. These parodies exposed Michael's work to new audiences and brought him international fame of an unexpected nature, transforming the venerable poet into a living meme.
