Kinnikuman Zebra is one of the Five Fated Princes, a group of Choujins born on the same day at the same hospital as Kinnikuman, who, due to a nursery mishap, might plausibly be the true heir to the Kinniku throne. Each of the Fated Princes acted as an avatar of one of the five evil Gods; in Zebra's case, he was possessed by the God of Techniques, being the most technical fighter of the Fated Princes. Zebra was originally Powerfulman, born into poverty and slowly saving up money throughout his youth to buy his way into Choujin society. He was only allowed admission on the condition that he killed his best friend/pet zebra, Zebra Kid. Powerfulman reluctantly did so with his Muscle Inferno, and this experience traumatized him; since then, he values money above all else (a fact reflected in the team he assembled, who were all hired with large sums of money). Although normally a clean, technical fighter, Zebra's tragic backstory caused him to develop something of a brutal, darker split personality, where he fights dirty and employs underhanded tactics.
