So believe it or not, there is a lot of LORE behind this collection. and, it all actually stem from and was inspired by my oversaturation part of my MUGEN DISCUSSION: Is Creativity DEAD in mugen? or, it isn't promoted as much? in ak1 (in which I will not be linking for obvious reasons)
And since it is based off of this conversation, it shows how this lore goes is quite simple. this is to represent mugen being a collapsing system. how?
let's go into detail shall we?
• You see in the early cycles of M.U.G.E.N, the system thrived as a convergence of unique worlds where every character carried identity and every creation had purpose, but over time the shift wasn’t in the code it was in the choices behind it. A simple, accessible template began to spread, and that template was Ronald McDonald; never the strongest or most complex, but the easiest to replicate, and because he was easy, he was chosen repeatedly.
• What started as harmless repetition evolved into mass replication, and eventually into a system-wide condition known as oversaturation Collapse, where originality faded, identities blurred, and entire rosters began to mirror one another. Ronald did not conquer the system by force he became dominant through constant selection, a manifestation of convenience over creativity, until the system itself began to reflect him at its core (therefore technically he is the villian in this story).
• Which as you couldn't tell already this is to represent the state of mugen. there is TONS and I mean TONS of amazing characters out there, that deserve or at least are also much easier to edit than donald but when I bring that up it seems that people only know how to stay in one thing rather than get out of their comfort zone and exploring their potential.
• Now, what remains are fragments of individuality forgotten characters, unexplored ideas, and remnants of creativity standing against an endless cycle of imitation, as the final conflict emerges not as a battle of strength, but of identity itself: everything that remains versus the one that represents what the system has become. meaning, the very thing we hate coporations of today for, lack of creativity, repetitive and greed is unforunately now what this all has come to be what we represent...
Creativity didn’t disappear.
It was replaced by convenience, repetition, and profit-driven thinking.
When creators choose what is easy, over and over again…
they unknowingly create the very thing they criticize.
Will everything unique/expansive, win against the king of consumerism / oversaturation? or have we embraced lack of creativity and continue to lead into that oversaturation? that is something for you the viewer to think about it especially, for the authors of today.
Personal Note:
I will not lie, this is my first collection where I've honestly poured a lot of emotion, and powerful thoughts unto it. I know it may not be that deep to some, and some things truly do need some work ngl but when going thru the process, of making the intro, adding the music, etc.. had me thinking a lot more than the other collections I've ever been working on. hope you enjoy truly even if the message behind it, holds a lot of power within it. also another note, I did add the same rows of donalds twice so the game can at least be somewhat filled up and further relay the message of how repetitve most donalds can be. (yes repeat characters are actually on purpose this time so if you don't like duplicates you can pass or remove them)
Other than that, yes this is the last collection from my to-do list. therefore, I'll be focusing on IKEMEN:VOID from here.
