Miru (v1.2) by DeluxeGamer705
From: Pac-Man
=============================================================================================================================================================================

A character I've gained an interest in making for Mugen, despite Miru having very few appearances in the Pac-Man series. Since her main game is Pac and Pal, it might be on paper difficult to find any potential moves for her without having to resort to just original ones. However, I decided to give Miru some moves Pac-Man can use in the Smash series, while also making him an assist.

=============================================================================================================================================================================
1. WHO IS MIRU?

Miru is a character that made her first debut in the 1983 Arcade game Pac & Pal. She is a ghost, but in comparison to Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde, Miru means no harm against others and is actually Pac-Man's friend. She is a green, blob-like character that has no mouth but very large eyes, as well as a pink bow and shoes. In Pac & Pal, Miru wanders around the maze by picking up fruits and bringing them into the Ghost Pen, which disappear when she enters it. She can help the player clear the stage faster at the cost of missing the perfect bonus points at the end of every stage if she clears one fruit, and extra bonus points for every fruit she clears.

3. GAMEPLAY

-MAIN GAMEPLAY-
Miru is a keepaway character that focuses on heavily zoning the opponents out with her projectiles. They don't have much endlag, which means Miru can play defensively in an easy way. In addition, she can use Pac-Man as an assist to potentially give the opponent less chances of getting close to Miru thanks to how much she zones them out.

Some of her moves are encased in square brackets ([ ]) as seen in this readme. These mean that the button (mainly a directional input) must be held down for the move to be performed. Some specials also come with an EX version, a stronger version that requires 500 power and gives some longer endlag, and EX moves require two buttons to be pressed.

-COMBOS-
Miru's comboability focuses on chain comboing, allowing her to easily chain light normals into stronger normals, and can perform aerial raves. Miru has a corner-exclusive combo in the form of Cheerful Rush into Trampoline Jump, mainly if she does not have enough power to use her hypers.

In addition, she also has some chain normals which can be performed by pressing the same button after a normal connects. The strong normal, however, doesn't have any, though it can be cancelled into her crouching light normal.

-MECHANICS-
Miru has a few mechanics to go through. One of them is a dodge, performed with A (light kick for normal characters). When she performs it, she does not get hit from melee attacks and projectiles, giving her a defensive tool, unless she is hit by a throw (which WILL hit her, so don't be surprised when she is hit by a grab for example if she's dodging!). The second one is a power charge, performed with B (medium kick for normal characters). Doing this will cause Miru to gain power if the button is held, which will give her faster access to EX specials and hypers, though this comes at a cost of not allowing her to move, so make sure you don't abuse it too much. The third one is parrying, performed when you walk forward just before the opponent's attack makes contact, and this mechanic has an airborne version. When performed, Miru negates all damage the opponent's attack would do to her, while providing small invincibility to not be hit while parrying. Another one is an air dash, performed by pressing forward twice to do a forward one and vice versa. This does not give her any unique properties, but allows her to cancel it into any of her normals, while giving her more air control. And lastly, she has a super jump, performed by pressing down, and then up. This is mainly a mechanic used for combos, though it can be also used to make Miru approach the oponent if they're too high (if you don't like playing keepaway, that is...)

-MOVELIST-
SPECIALS:

Cherry Throw: D, DF, F, X/Y/Z
- Miru throws an 8-bit cherry as a projectile that flies diagonally, with the cherry not being able to hit the opponent when it touches the ground. Projectile velocity varies depending on the button pressed and can be used while airborne.
 - EX version: Cherry can hit the opponent when it bounces. However, it still disappears when it fully lands on the ground.

Trampoline Jump: F, D, DF, F, X/Y/Z
- Miru jumps from a trampoline that causes hard knockdown upon contact. Good combo tool and can be used while airborne. Horizontal distance varies depending on the button pressed.
 - EX version: Larger distance.
  - This is also used for the Guard Cancel, which can be performed by pressing X+Y during blockstun at the cost of 1000 power.
   - Depending on which button is pressed, the trampoline's colour is different:
    - X version: Blue
    - Y version: Yellow
    - Z version: Red (also used for the EX version)
    - Guard Cancel: Blue or red

Cheerful Rush: F, F, X/Y/Z
- Miru cheerfully rushes towards the opponent, hitting them several times, causing hard knockdown. Great combo tool that must be blocked mid.
 - EX version: Miru rushes faster.

Fire Hydrant: D, DB, B, X/Y/Z
- Miru looks forward as a fire hydrant appears and shoots water thrice. Great zoning tool.
 - EX version: Water causes soft knockdown.

Trumpet Play: F, DF, D, DB, B, X/Y/Z
- Miru plays a trumpet and fires a small wave that goes through the opponents. Good zoning tool and the wave deals slightly more damage due to its size. Wave velocity varies depending on the button pressed.
 - EX version: Causes soft knockdown.

Pac-Man: [B], F, X/Y/Z
- Miru summons Pac-Man, who transforms into his Classic form (as first seen in the Arcade game of the same name from 1980) to charge towards the opponent, hitting the opponent several times, causing hard knockdown on each hit. Must be blocked mid.

------------------------
HYPERS:

Water Blast: D, DF, F, D, DF, F, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 1000 power)
- A stronger version of Fire Hydrant where it shoots more water, this time causing soft knockdown completely. Great zoning tool.

Spinning Cards: D, DB, B, D, DB, B, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 1000 power)
- Miru looks up as several cards fall down, causing soft knockdown. The cards go through the opponents.

Bouncy Bonus: D, DF, F, D, DB, B, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 2000 power)
- Miru looks backward as a bunch of 8-bit fruit and items from the series bounce forward, with each fruit causing hard knockdown. Great zoning tool.

8-bit Snowman: D, DB, B, D, DF, F, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 2000 power)
- Miru looks up as a giant 8-bit snowman falls down and temporarily stuns the opponent, then causing them to fall onto the ground.

Super Pac-Man: B, F, B, F, X/Y/Z (uses 3000 power)
- Miru summons Pac-Man, though this time, he turns into Super Pac-Man, knocking the opponent up if his attack connects. Pac-Man becomes larger during this move, making it a bit difficult to avoid him.

-ULTIMATE-
The ultimate is an unblockable move that is performed by crouching thrice and pressing X+Y+Z. The move makes Miru go fast, dealing almost enough damage to K.O. the opponent if at full HP, and can only be performed after the "DANGER!" message appears, while giving them full invincibility during its duration.

Miru's finisher - Ghostly Rush:
Miru becomes transparent and goes backward, before rushing forward faster than usual and knocking the opponent up.

4. PALETTES
Miru has a total of 12 palettes, all of which can be selected if you press a different button when you're at the character select screen. Note that palettes 7-12 can only be selected if you hold start (which is used for the taunt). However, Miru comes with a palette selector, which allows the player to select any of the 12 palettes, which can be helpful if they change their mind before the match can start. Below are the palettes:

A: Miru (Default)
B: Pac-Man
C: Kirby
X: Reverse
Y: Contrast
Z: Monochrome
Start+A: Sketch
Start+B: 8-bit
Start+C: Dig Dug
Start+X: Starlow
Start+Y: Yumetaro
Start+Z: Pooka

5. NOTES

-THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH HER-
 1. Make a match with her.
 2. Share it with your friends/fans in case you would want them to gain a potential interest in the Pac-Man series if they never played any game from that series.
 3. Give her an A.I. patch if you want her A.I. to be stronger. No permission needed, though credit will be still appreciated. :)
 4. Create additional palettes for her, in case you would want more variety or have your own palettes.
 5. Send me feedback if there are any oddities, oopsies, or bugs, especially that can affect her gameplay.

-THINGS YOU CANNOT DO WITH HER-
 1. Make NSFW/18+ edits (this includes vore edits.).
 2. Bash her (it's a waste of time. There are better ways of using your time rather than bashing. This isn't the 2010s anymore anyways).
 3. Make spriteswaps or paletteswaps of her, because doing them is laziness and is disrespectful.

-THINGS THAT REQUIRE PERMISSION-
 1. As I tend to have trust issues with some Mugen content creators, editing her requires permission from me. Note that what can be edited are combos, gameplay, and other stuff, but absolutely no NSFW/18+ edits as mentioned earlier.
 2. Using codes from the character if you're creating a Mugen character yourself. It's better to learn how to code instead of steal, soif you would want to use some of her code, ask me first.
 3. Use of sprites in a different project.

-KNOWN ISSUES-
 1. The A.I. code is not perfect, but I tried.
 2. There's a chance Miru can glitch out for a frame when she lands after using her aerial strong normal. I did try my best to fix it though.

-OTHER NOTES-
 1. This character was made only for Mugen 1.0 and up. Older versions of Mugen will not load the character.
 2. Tested on Mugen 1.1, but still works on Mugen 1.0.
