LINK FOR MUGEN - VERSION 0.95

~ RUPEES ~

Rupees are the common currency of Hyrule Kingdom, where Link comes from. There several kinds of it :

  • Green Rupee : It's the basic monetary unit, so it's worth 1 rupee.

  • Blue Rupee : it's worth 3 rupees

  • Red Rupee : it's worth 5 rupees

  • Purple Rupee : it's worth 10 rupees

  • Orange Rupee : it's worth 20 rupees

  • Silver Rupee : it's worth 35 rupees

  • Golden Rupee : it's worth 50 rupees

How to earn rupees ? It's very simple : since your rupees maximum isn't set at 0 (cf. Customization), each time you eat your enemy, some rupees (1 to 3) will spurt out (maybe alternately with the items, according to your customization's parameters). You just need to walk on them to pick them, or to shoot the boomerang on them. A meter at the bottom of the screen, on the left (if you're playing on the left) displays the number of rupees you have.

However, most of the time, you will only pick green rupees.

NB : The rupee's displaying is disabled in three cases :

  • If the shop is deactivated

  • If the maximum of rupees you can carry is set to 0

  • If you willingly deactivate this displaying

These three cases are set with the Customization file. In the two last cases, even if rupees aren't shown, they will appear from the opponent.

How to obtain more valuable rupees ? For this, you need to realize chains (or "combo"). The more hits a chain contains, the more valuable the rupees will be.

  • Up to 3 hits, you'll just have green rupees.

  • From 4 to 7 hits, you'll have blue rupees.

  • From 8 to 11 hits, you'll have red rupees.

  • From 12 to 17 hits, you'll have purple rupees

  • From 18 to 23 hits, you'll have orange rupees.

  • From 24 to 30 hits, you'll have silver rupees

  • From 31 hits, you'll have golden rupees.

So, your interest is to developed your Link's mastery, in order to find big chains which will allow you to quickly get a lot of rupees.

Some hits don't generate rupees. It's the case of the hookshot, for instance. Indeed, as the hookshot is supposed to hit the opponent far to bring him near, needing to move over there to pick the rupees would ruin all the insterest of this weapon.

Finally, there are sometimes rupees generation problems on the second opponent (against an enemy in Team Simul). Moreover, it's possible than, in some very rare case, rupees can appear grey instead of being green. This doesn't affect the rupee's value.

The other way, which allows you to earn inimmediately 50 rupees, it's to realize a "perfect" against your enemy (that is, to win the round with your life at maximum). But take care ! If you lose a round, a penalty of 100 rupees will be applied to you !!!

What's the purpose of these famous rupees ? They allow you to buy, in the Tingle' Shop, some new objects, which will let you perform new moves or to buy some new abilities. So, you must pick the more rupees you can to make Link evolves during the Arcade mode. But beware of concentratinge only on them, otherwise your foe could profit to win the round, or even the match !

Warning, Link's purse isn't extensible ! Thus, there's a limit to the amount of rupees Link can carry. You can set this limit (cf. Customization), but it'll have a maximum of 999 (the costliest object is worth 500 rupees, but also think that you'll need to fill again your "consumables" stocks - arrows, bombs, potions, fairies).

Finally, if you lose a match, and you decide to continue, you'll keep the rupees you've collected until this moment.
