Yay, another Angry Birds character. You know, there are hardly any Angry Birds characters that truly feel like proper characters that don't appear to be just rushed and low-quality. I think I'm one of these that actually knows how to pull off an Angry Birds character for Mugen that plays properly, so I decided to do it once again. This time, I decided to aim for Chuck, the Yellow Bird.

1. WHO IS CHUCK?

Chuck is a bird that appears in Angry Birds. In a rather unique case in terms of design, his body is triangular instead of rounded. He is hyperactive, and prioritizes speed over precision, which can cause him to do tasks poorly or just leave them unfinished due to him getting tired out. He is extremely arrogant and loves showing off, often looking at himself in the mirror and posing. He does care about the eggs, though, wanting to make sure they're safe from the pigs.

2. CHANGELOG

-v1.1 (December 27, 2025)
 *[RENAME] Finisher to ultimate.
 *[BUFF] If Chuck hits the oponent with Super Charge, they now have a hurtbox, which means if Chuck is in simul mode for example and has a teammate, they can hit the opponent.
 *[CHANGE] Some moves are no longer affected by PalFX due to making use of the "ownpal = 1" code.
 *[ADD] More sprites for rolls, to make the animation more fluid.
 *[CHANGE] A.I. now uses EX Wood Throw more often, and has a chance to use Dancing Spark more if at enough power. Also, it now shouldn't use power charge or randomly dodge or air dash for no reason. It also now uses Chuck's ultimate if the requirements are met.

3. GAMEPLAY

-MAIN GAMEPLAY-
Chuck is a fragile speedster, having lower defence but high speed. He can move around the stage fast, and has a moveset that relies on rushdown. While he cannot dash-dance, Chuck's mobility means that he can approach things quickly, either by just simply moving, or using specials to approach.

-COMBOS-
Chuck has the chain comboing system, inspired by the MvC series. He can cancel light normals into stronger ones, and can cancel them into specials and hypers, while also being able to cancel some specials into other specials and even being able to cancel them into his hypers. His combos are pretty quick due to the low hitstun and hitlag his moves provide, not to mention that some of his combos are quite tricky to perform without button/key mashing.

-MECHANICS-
Chuck has a few mechanics to go through. One of them is a dodge, performed with A. When he performs it, he does not get hit from melee attacks and projectiles, giving him a defensive tool, unless he is hit by a throw (which WILL hit him, so don't be surprised when he is hit by a grab for example if he's dodging!). The second one is a power charge, performed with B. Doing this will cause Chuck to gain power if the button is held, which will give him faster access to EX specials and hypers, though this comes at a cost of not allowing him to move, so make sure you don't abuse it too much. The third one is parrying, performed when you walk forward just before the opponent's 
attack makes contact, and this mechanic has an airborne version. When performed, Chuck negates all damage the opponent's attack would do to him, while providing small invincibility to not be hit while parrying. Another one is an air dash, performed by pressing forward twice to do a forward one and vice versa. This does not give him any unique properties, but allows him to cancel it into any of her normals, while giving him more air control. He also has a super jump, performed by pressing down, then up. This mechanic is a combo tool that allows for aerial raves, though it also gives Chuck an ability to approach or dodge attacks.

-MOVELIST-
SPECIALS:

Slide Dash: D, DF, F, X/Y/Z
- Chuck slides forward, tripping the opponent up. Must be blocked mid and can be used while airborne. Horizontal distance varies depending on the button pressed.
 - EX version: Chuck slides twice.
  - This is also used for the Guard Cancel, performed by pressing X+Y during blockstun at the cost of 1000 power.

Diagonal Dash: F, D, DF, F, X/Y/Z
- Basically a dialognal version of Slide Dash where Chuck slides upwards diagonally, launching the opponent up. Can be used while airborne and must be blocked mid.
 - EX version: More distance.

Wood Throw: D, DB, B, X/Y/Z
- Chuck throws a wooden block as a projectile. The block's hitbox disappears if it touches the ground without hitting the opponent. Projectile velocity varies depending on the button pressed and can be used while airborne.
 - EX version: Chuck throws two blocks.

Thunder Strike: B, F, X/Y/Z
- Chuck summons a cloud that strikes the opponent with a thunder that tracks the opponent's position. If the opponent doesn't have an electrocuted animation, a PalFX is used instead, with hard knockdown. Has a 2-second cooldown.

HYPERS:

Super Charge: D, DF, F, D, DF, F, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 1000 power)
- Chuck dashes forward much faster, launching the opponent up. Basically a stronger version of Slide Dash.

Fast Assault: D, DB, B, D, DB, B, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 2000 power)
- Chuck dashes forward, and if the move connects, he performs an automatic combo, ending with him launching the opponent up, and then charging into them.

Dancing Spark: D, DF, F, D, DB, B, X+Y/Y+Z/X+Z (uses 3000 power)
- Chuck becomes the Illusionist to summon three orbs that spawn above the opponent and fall down, knocking them up once they hit the ground.

-ULTIMATE- 
The ultimate is an unblockable move that is performed by crouching thrice and pressing X+Y+Z. Chuck's ultimate spawns large projectiles, dealing almost enough damage to K.O. the opponent if at full HP, and can only be performed after the "DANGER!" message appears, while giving full invincibility during its duration. 

Chuck's ultimate - Electric Orbs:
Chuck uses a wand to summon something. He then looks behind, noticing three electric orbs charging onto the opponent. The orbs track the opponent's vertical position.

4. PALETTES
Chuck has a total of 12 palettes, all of which can be selected if you press a different button when you're at the character select screen. Note that palettes 7-12 can only be selected if you hold start (which is used for the taunt). However, Chuck comes with a palette selector, which allows the player to select any of the 12 palettes, which can be helpful if they change their mind before the match can start. Below are the palettes:

A: Chuck (Default)
B: Red
C: Bomb
X: The Blues
Y: Matilda
Z: Stella
Start+A: Bubbles
Start+B: Minion Pig
Start+C: Hal
Start+X: Silver
Start+Y: Reverse
Start+Z: Sonic

5. NOTES

-THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH HIM-
 1. Make a match with him.
 2. Share it with your friends/fans in case you would want them to experience an Angry Birds character.
 3. Give him an A.I. patch if you want his A.I. to be stronger. No permission needed, though credit will be still appreciated. :)
 4. Create additional palettes for him, in case you would want more variety or have your own palettes.
 5. Send me feedback if there are any oddities, oopsies, or bugs, especially that can affect his gameplay.

-THINGS YOU CANNOT DO WITH HIM-
 1. Make NSFW/18+ edits (this includes vore edits.).
 2. Bash him (it's a waste of time. There are better ways of using your time rather than bashing. This isn't the 2010s anymore anyways).
 3. Make spriteswaps or paletteswaps of him, because doing them is laziness and is disrespectful.

-THINGS THAT REQUIRE PERMISSION-
 1. As I tend to have trust issues with some Mugen content creators, editing her requires permission from me. Note that what can be edited are combos, gameplay, and other stuff, but absolutely no NSFW/18+ edits as mentioned earlier.
 2. Using codes from the character if you're creating a Mugen character yourself. It's better to learn how to code instead of steal, so if you would want to use some of her code, ask me first.
 3. Use of sprites in a different project.

-KNOWN ISSUES-
 1. The A.I. code is not perfect, but I tried.

-OTHER NOTES-
 1. This character was made only for Mugen 1.0 and up. Older versions of Mugen will not load the character.
 2. Tested on Mugen 1.1, but still works on Mugen 1.0.

6. INSTALLATION

Struggling with adding Chuck to your roster? No worries, here's how to do it:

1. Unpack the character's folder and add it in the chars folder
2. Go to data and open select
3. Paste the following name in the character section: Chuck

And here you go! Chuck should now appear anytime you start Mugen.
